Chinese Medicine Quarterly : first issue now ready for purchase

Here in Portland, we have some rare early spring sunshine, which makes me even happier to announce the birth of something new Chinese Medicine Quarterly has its first issue up and ready to purchase. It has been quite a process, as new things always are, but we think that you will be pleased with the result.

In this issue, you will find articles addressing in an accessible and enjoyable style topics of interest to students and practitioners of Chinese medicine. Youll also notice that the issue is beautiful most people feel somehow calmer and more excited about Chinese medicine after reading it. I think thats got a lot to do with the skill of our designer, Elizabeth Wolf. Shes fantastic and a Chinese medicine student to boot!

Some of what youll see inside

  • Hayley Gardner, MSOM LAc discusses her take on the crucial differences between Classical Chinese Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine
  • G. Michael Reynolds, DOM delivers some forthright talk about the shortcomings of a non-scholarly approach to Chinese medicine
  • Amanda Wang, DOM addresses a sometimes dicey subject the importance of ethical referrals in contemporary Chinese medicine practice

If you head over to the magazine page, youll see the answers to some common questions, including why we decided to charge for the magazine and why we went digital. Which brings me to an important point.

We really wanted to release this magazine with a print-on-demand possibility. Unfortunately, technological and time limitations have, so far, not allowed this to become a reality. Im going to keep ! working on it, and will let you know if that changes. Our intent, during our next issue in July, will be to have that option available for people. Importantly, printing will carry an additional cost which only makes sense given the limited nature of paper resources.

With our next issue, we hope to feature more writers, some featured columns, and hopefully an entirely redesigned store with more products and features. If you havent already, please sign up for the newsletter in the sidebar its a very reliable way to receive notification of whats coming up and were starting to release exclusive content of interest to students and practitioners on the newsletter.

After youre done reading, head over to the forums where youll find an exclusive forum just for discussing this issue of Chinese Medicine Quarterly. Signing up for a forum account is free and easy. We look forward to hearing your feedback and getting into some great conversations.

Thank you so much for your support!
